Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Full Stack Developer to design, develop, and deliver a cloud-native ticketing system for events and sports.

This contract engagement has 2 open positions and is based in Johannesburg with a hybrid working pattern: 2 days at CBD Bank City, 1 day at Sandton or Fairland office, and 2 days remote. Subcontractor budget: R650/hr.

Only South African citizens, South African permanent residents, or Zimbabwean nationals with CSV may apply.

Immediate joiners preferred.

Minimum 8 years of professional Java experience is required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, secure RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.

• Develop responsive, modular user interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3/SCSS.

• Implement data persistence layers using Spring Data JPA and Hibernate, and manage interactions with PostgreSQL, Oracle, or NoSQL databases.

• Design and implement cloud-native, containerised deployments and CI/CD pipelines to support scalable production systems.

• Collaborate closely with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver features end-to-end and ensure high code quality and reliability.

• Perform unit and integration testing, debugging, performance optimisation, and application security reviews.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers, lead code reviews, and share engineering best practices.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Minimum 8+ years of professional Java development experience with proven full-stack delivery on enterprise projects.

• Experience building or contributing to ticketing, e-commerce, or other high-transaction systems is highly desirable.

• Proven experience with cloud-native architectures, containers, and CI/CD tooling.

• Eligible to work in South Africa: SA citizen, SA permanent resident, or Zimbabwean with CSV/SA ID.

• Available to start immediately (immediate joiners preferred).
