Start free — we apply for you →Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to take a leading role in the development of enterprise-grade Point of Sale (POS) solutions. This is an opportunity to work on complex retail technology, integrations and high-performance systems while contributing to technical direction and mentoring a development team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance Java-based POS solutions.
- Design, prototype and implement new software solutions and functional enhancements.
- Lead the development and integration of SAP Retail solutions.
- Integrate third-party systems and services using SOAP, REST and iDocs.
- Develop responsive user interfaces using Java Swing, HTML5 and CSS.
- Integrate and support POS hardware, including card terminals, printers and peripheral devices.
- Develop reports using JasperReports and iText and manage receipt and line printing.
- Produce technical documentation, UML diagrams, development wikis and SDK guidelines.
- Mentor and lead developers while promoting quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Drive the full software development lifecycle from requirements through to deployment and support.
- Conduct code reviews, testing and quality assurance to ensure maintainable solutions.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in production environments.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies and apply suitable tools and methodologies.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in Java development.
- Experience developing enterprise-scale software solutions.
- Strong understanding of software development principles, design and architecture.
- Experience with REST and SOAP integrations.
- Exposure to SAP Retail and integration concepts will be advantageous.
- Experience with Java Swing, HTML5 and CSS.
- Experience working with reporting tools such as JasperReports and iText is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Proven ability to mentor or lead other developers.
- A strong focus on coding standards, testing, performance and maintainability.
