Introduction

Our client in the Financial Services Industry in Gauteng is looking for a Senior Investment Consultant to provide advanced financial analysis, investment search, and strategic insights that support informed investment decisions, optimise portfolio performance, and contribute to the organisation’s growth and risk management objectives. The role is also responsible for leading and guiding the investment team performance, growth, and development in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

Client Advisory

  • Provide comprehensive investment advice to clients, including pension funds, insurance companies, etc.
  • Develop tailored investment strategies to meet clients' financial goals, incorporating asset allocation, risk management, and performance objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth client consultations to understand their unique requirements and constraints

Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the management of client portfolios, ensuring optimal asset allocation and performance in line with clients' risk tolerance and investment objectives.
  • Monitor and adjust portfolios as needed to respond to market conditions, economic developments, and client-specific factors.
  • Utilize financial modelling techniques to assess portfolio performance and implement necessary adjustments.

Market analysis and Team Collaboration

  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about current market trends, economic indicators, and emerging investment opportunities.
  • Evaluate the impact of global events, regulatory changes, and market movements on clients' portfolios. Provide clients with regular market updates and insights to support informed decision-making.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including investment strategy, manager research, compliance, and client services, to deliver integrated investment solutions.
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop and refine investment strategies, share market insights, and address client needs.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment to achieve collective success.

Reporting

  • Prepare and present detailed investment reports and performance reviews to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide clients with regular updates on portfolio performance and market developments.

Customer Service

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact, or one of the main contacts, on clients you service, offering continuous support, guidance, and strategic advice.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to review portfolio performance, discuss investment strategies, and address any concerns.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance client satisfaction and achieve

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all investment activities comply with relevant industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Assist to ensure client FICA is collected.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure Reg 28 / SARB or other similar regulatory reports are completed on time.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and their potential impact on investment strategies and client portfolios.
  • Ensure good governance is maintained in the processes and work performed.
  • Ensure IPEV annual valuation is completed.
  • Attend to audit findings and action plans.
  • Develop a risk assessment and mitigating plan, where necessary.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of Post Graduate Degree (NQF Level 8) in Finance, Commerce, Mathematics, or any other relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of Five (8) years’ experience as an investment analyst.
  • A minimum of three (5) years’ experience in financial valuation & modelling.
  • A minimum of three (5) years’ experience with contractual claims.

Key Competencies and Skills required

  • Good understanding of investment consulting environment.
  • Good understanding of investments and market economics.
  • Strong skills in project management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including excellent and proven client engagement ability.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic team environment.
  • Passionate about financial markets.
  • Organised, self-starting, highly motivated, with the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel to client meetings (typically around JHB market and Cape Town).
