We're looking for a senior gas-turbine engineer to act as the main technical authority on our Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) repackaging and refurbishment projects. You'll own technical assurance of the packager's scope for our refurbished GE Frame 6B units, lead design and documentation reviews, drive root-cause resolution of defects, witness factory and site acceptance testing, and provide gas-turbine engineering direction to the OCGT project-engineering stream and the wider engineering team. This is a senior, individual-contributor technical role reporting to the Engineering Director, with regular travel to the packager's facility in China and the project site in the USA.
What you’ll do
- Own the technical assurance plan and compliance matrix mapping US client requirements and applicable codes (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA/NEC, UL, EPA emissions, IEEE grid-interconnection) to the packager's scope of supply.
- Review and approve the packager's design deliverables, drawings and documentation, managing comment cycles through to close-out.
- Lead root-cause investigations (8D) on non-conformances and drive corrective and preventive action with the packager and its sub-vendors.
- Plan and witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at the packager and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) / commissioning support at site; own release-to-ship and punch-list closure.
- Serve as the senior engineering interface to the US client, providing structured assurance reporting and non-conformance status.
- Mentor and transfer gas-turbine knowledge to the OCGT project engineers and the wider mechanical team.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in gas-turbine engineering, including refurbishment, repackaging or through-life support of GE Frame 6B or similar industrial gas turbines.
- Proven experience acting as a senior technical authority on gas-turbine hardware, including compressors, casings and associated rotating equipment.
- Experience working with third-party packagers and OEMs, ideally involving international vendors (e.g. China-based facilities).
- Strong working knowledge of US codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA/NEC, UL, EPA emissions, IEEE grid-interconnection).
- Experience leading root-cause investigations (e.g. 8D methodology) and driving corrective and preventive actions with vendors and sub-vendors.
- Experience planning and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) / commissioning.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng via IMechE) or actively working towards it, and/or ECSA registration where applicable.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally to China and the USA as required.
How You'll Make an Impact
We value performance and delivery excellence. Success in this role is measured through:
- A technical assurance plan and compliance matrix that maps every US code and client requirement to the packager's scope, with no gaps surfacing downstream
- Design and documentation review cycles closed on time, with comments tracked through to verified close-out
- Non-conformances resolved to true root cause through 8D, with corrective and preventive actions that eliminate repeat defects
- FAT and SAT run to plan, with release-to-ship and punch-list items closed cleanly and without dispute
- Clear, structured assurance reporting that keeps the US client confident in the programme's technical integrity
- Gas-turbine knowledge transferred into the OCGT project engineering team, building capability beyond your own desk
