Senior Full-Stack PHP Developer

Our client is seeking a highly capable Senior Full-Stack PHP Developer to join a fast-paced FinTech development environment. This role is suited to a hands-on developer who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable applications, and contributing to secure, high-performance platforms used by thousands of users.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable, user-facing web applications and components.

• Lead backend development using PHP and the SlimPHP framework.

• Develop and support frontend functionality using Vue.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).

• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and work with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Develop solutions capable of supporting high volumes of concurrent users.

• Contribute to application design, testing, deployment, performance optimisation and ongoing maintenance.

• Work with AWS services including EC2, RDS and Lambda.

• Support real-time functionality using technologies such as Pusher and WebSockets.

• Apply secure coding practices and contribute to maintaining system reliability and uptime.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA teams, developers and business stakeholders within an Agile Scrum environment.

• Continuously improve existing codebases, infrastructure and development practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years' professional experience in full-stack development.

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.

• Strong PHP development experience, ideally with SlimPHP.

• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+).

• Experience with Vue.js and frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap.

• Experience developing responsive user interfaces.

• Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Experience with scalable, high-volume, multi-user applications.

• Experience with AWS, CI/CD and RESTful APIs.

• Knowledge of real-time communication technologies such as Pusher or WebSockets is advantageous.

• Strong understanding of software security and secure development practices.

• Experience working in Agile development teams.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

• Experience with Vue CLI, Pinia, Vue Router or Nuxt.js will be advantageous.

• Exposure to FinTech, PropTech, accounting or property management systems will be beneficial.

• Legally authorised to work in South Africa.
