Senior Full-Stack PHP Developer

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Full-Stack PHP Developer to join a growing FinTech development team in Somerset West. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong developer who enjoys solving complex problems, building secure applications and enhancing high-volume platforms used by thousands of users.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend development using PHP and the SlimPHP framework to build and maintain APIs and core business logic.

• Develop and maintain frontend components using Vue.js, modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap.

• Build scalable, responsive and user-friendly web applications that integrate with SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Optimise application performance, reliability, security and usability across high-volume, multi-user environments.

• Work with SQL Server, MySQL and MongoDB to support application data requirements.

• Contribute to cloud-based solutions using AWS services, including EC2, RDS and Lambda.

• Support real-time functionality and communications using technologies such as Pusher and WebSockets.

• Participate in application design, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.

• Collaborate with product owners, QA teams, developers and business stakeholders within an Agile Scrum environment.

• Maintain clean, efficient, secure and well-documented code.

• Contribute to CI/CD processes and continuously improve development practices.

• Identify and resolve technical issues affecting mission-critical applications.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional full-stack development experience.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.

• Strong experience with PHP and backend application development.

• Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+) and frontend development.

• Experience building scalable web or mobile applications supporting high volumes of concurrent users.

• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap and responsive design.

• Exposure to AWS services, including EC2, RDS and Lambda.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and real-time communication technologies.

• Strong understanding of application security, performance optimisation and software development best practices.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Advantageous Experience

• Vue.js ecosystem tools, including Vue CLI, Pinia, Vue Router and Nuxt.js.

• Experience with SQL Server, MySQL and MongoDB in production environments.

• Property management software, accounting workflows, PropTech or FinTech experience.

• Experience supporting always-on, mission-critical platforms.
