We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to develop, enhance and maintain enterprise-level applications and backend platforms. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions, working collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders in an Agile environment.
The role involves developing modern applications using Java technologies, designing RESTful APIs, implementing microservices and supporting cloud-based solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and enhance enterprise Java applications and backend platforms.
Design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices and scalable system solutions.
Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
Work with SQL and PostgreSQL databases to support application functionality and performance.
Apply software engineering best practices, design patterns and coding standards.
Manage source code using Git and participate in code reviews.
Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments and DevOps practices.
Work with containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Collaborate with stakeholders, contribute to Agile ceremonies and provide technical guidance to colleagues.
Maintain technical documentation and ensure quality, reliability and compliance requirements are met.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Essential Requirements
Diploma or degree in IT or a related field.
Minimum 8 years of professional Java development experience.
Extensive experience with Java EE and the Spring Framework.
Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation.
Experience designing and developing microservices and applying design patterns.
Strong SQL and PostgreSQL database experience.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Proficiency in Git and version control practices.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD.
Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps principles.
Experience with AWS cloud services.
Proven track record of delivering high-quality IT solutions.
Advantageous Skills
Experience in manual or automated software testing.
Familiarity with SonarQube and code quality practices.
Experience integrating different technologies and systems.
Exposure to web and digital projects.
Knowledge of system audits, compliance and technical documentation.
Experience preparing operational manuals and providing user training.
