Senior Full Stack Developer (Java / Cloud / DevOps)

Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting modern cloud-native applications.

The successful candidate will work within an Agile DevOps environment , contributing to backend development using Java technologies, building scalable microservices, designing REST APIs, supporting frontend solutions, and ensuring operational excellence across enterprise applications.

This role requires a strong technical expert who can independently solve complex problems, influence technical decisions, and contribute to the delivery of innovative digital solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications using Java technologies.

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java 11+ and modern frameworks.

• Build scalable microservices using Spring and/or Quarkus frameworks .

• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs .

• Develop and support event-driven solutions using messaging technologies such as Kafka and JMS .

• Build and maintain containerised applications using Docker .

• Support application deployments and administration within Kubernetes environments .

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions .

• Collaborate with Agile feature teams across analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment activities.

• Contribute to frontend development using modern web technologies when required.

• Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure solution quality.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues and support Tier-3 operational activities.

• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

• Support cloud-native application development and improvements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Essential Skills & Experience

• Relevant IT degree or equivalent technical qualification.

• Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in advanced Java backend development .

• Strong proficiency in Java 11+ .

• Experience developing microservices using Spring Boot and/or Quarkus .

• Strong experience designing and implementing REST APIs .

• Experience with messaging frameworks such as Kafka and JMS .

• Proficiency with Maven build tools.

• Experience with Docker containerisation .

• Knowledge of Kubernetes commands and application administration .

• Experience using Git version control (GitHub Enterprise preferred).

• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions .

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure .

Advantageous Skills

• Frontend development experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS .

• Experience with frontend libraries/frameworks such as jQuery .

• Understanding of UX principles and tools such as Figma .

• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle databases .

• Experience with JUnit and automated testing frameworks .

• Knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration concepts including Helm and manifests .

• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as:

• Prometheus

• Grafana

• ELK / OpenSearch

• Experience with integration testing approaches such as Test Containers .

• Understanding of API security concepts including authentication and authorization.

• Exposure to DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform .
