The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring statutory compliance, leading the finance team, and supporting the Finance Manager with reporting and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to the finance team • Oversee the full debtors and creditors functions • Review account reconciliations and financial transactions for accuracy • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports • Perform variance analysis and financial performance reporting • Ensure compliance with VAT, tax, and SARS requirements • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities • Manage inventory reconciliations and investigate variances • Oversee fixed asset accounting and maintenance of the asset register • Support project accounting and profitability analysis • Assist with cash flow forecasting and foreign exchange transactions • Prepare audit files and liaise with external auditors • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements, and automation projects • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls Job Experience and Skills Required:
• BCom Accounting or equivalent Accounting Degree (Essential) • Minimum 5 years experience in a Senior Accountant or Financial Accountant role • Experience within a commercial and foreign exchange environment • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills • ERP system experience (SAP Business One advantageous) • Strong knowledge of South African accounting principles, VAT, and company legislation • Experience preparing management accounts and annual audit files • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Previous team leadership and mentoring experience • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity • Proactive, hands-on approach with a continuous improvement mindset Apply now!
