Senior Electrical Engineer Power Generation

A leading engineering and power generation organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its technical team and play a key role in the delivery, optimisation and support of major power generation projects. This is a senior technical position suited to an engineer with strong experience in electrical power systems, generation facilities, industrial plant electrical infrastructure and project execution . The successful candidate will provide technical leadership from concept and design through to procurement, installation, commissioning and operational support. The role offers exposure to complex power generation projects and requires an engineer who can operate confidently across technical, commercial and project environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering activities across power generation projects.
• Develop, review and approve electrical designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Design and review LV, MV and HV electrical systems associated with power generation facilities.
• Provide technical input into generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, protection systems and distribution networks.
• Perform and review electrical engineering studies, calculations and system assessments.
• Develop electrical scopes of work, technical specifications, BOQs and tender documentation.
• Review vendor drawings, equipment specifications and technical submissions.
• Participate in equipment selection and technical procurement processes.
• Provide technical leadership during construction, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and power-system problems and conduct root-cause investigations.
• Support plant reliability, availability and performance improvement initiatives.
• Review protection, control and electrical system interfaces.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Conduct technical design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
• Provide engineering support during FATs, SATs and site commissioning.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
• Assist with project planning, cost estimation, tendering and technical risk management.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with applicable SANS, IEC, OHS and industry requirements .
