Coastal Hire Centurion is looking for an experienced Senior Diesel Mechanic to join our team.
Experience in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical fault-finding and general small plant equipment is a requirement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The position requires a hands-on individual with strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Servicing, repairing and overhauling diesel engines and small plant equipment.
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Conducting preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Preparing equipment for hire and ensuring it is in safe working condition.
- Identifying and reporting equipment requiring major repairs or replacement.
- Maintaining accurate workshop job card records and service reports
- Supervising and coordinating workshop team.
- Ensuring that repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Ensuring workshop tools, equipment and work area are kept safe and organised.
- Working efficiently to meet workshop deadlines and equipment availability requirements
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks
- Daily vehicle fleet inspections and basic services as required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent . Relevant technical qualification or Trade Certificate.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably within the plant or construction equipment industry.
- Experience working on small plant and construction equipment
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as lead and support a workshop team.
- A strong focus on safety, quality and reliability.
- Technical understanding of diesel and petrol engine components and hydraulics.
- Valid driver's licence essetial.
