Senior Data Warehouse & Power BI Developer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Warehouse & Power BI Developer to manage data warehouse environments, strengthen data quality, and deliver insightful business intelligence solutions. This hybrid contract opportunity is based in Kyalami, Johannesburg, with three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain data warehouse environments across on-premises SQL Server and AWS PostgreSQL.

• Develop, maintain, and monitor ETL processes, replication jobs, stored procedures, and scheduled database tasks.

• Troubleshoot data integration issues, optimise SQL queries, and ensure data accuracy, availability, and performance.

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports covering sales, production versus budget, policy movements, lapses, persistency, and financial performance.

• Translate business requirements into reporting solutions, defining and validating KPIs, calculations, and business rules.

• Automate manual reporting processes and provide ad hoc data extracts and analysis.

• Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Operations, and technical teams to support data integration and architecture improvements.

• Investigate data inconsistencies, identify root causes, and promote effective data governance.

Requirements

• At least 5 years’ experience in data warehousing, SQL development, database administration, or business intelligence.

• Strong experience with MS SQL Server, T-SQL, PostgreSQL, and advanced SQL development.

• Proficiency in ETL processes, SSIS, Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and data modelling.

• Experience with database administration, SQL performance tuning, stored procedures, replication, and SQL Server Agent.

• Exposure to AWS RDS, EC2, and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

• Advanced Excel skills, including data extraction, reconciliation, and reporting automation.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience in financial services or insurance reporting, cloud databases, and data governance would be advantageous
