Senior Data Warehouse & Power BI Developer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Data Warehouse & Power BI Developer to strengthen its data engineering, database management and business intelligence capabilities. This opportunity is suited to a hands-on technical specialist who can manage end-to-end data solutions, optimise database performance and deliver reliable reporting that supports informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain data warehouse environments across on-premises Microsoft SQL Server and AWS PostgreSQL.

• Develop, maintain and monitor ETL processes, data replication jobs, stored procedures and scheduled database jobs.

• Troubleshoot data integration failures, optimise SQL queries and ensure data accuracy, availability and performance.

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports using Power Query, DAX and data modelling techniques.

• Deliver reporting and analysis covering sales performance, production versus budget, policy movements, lapses, persistency and financial performance.

• Produce ad hoc data extracts, reconciliations and analytical reports.

• Identify opportunities to automate manual and Excel-based reporting processes.

• Engage with Sales, Finance and Operations teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Collaborate with Group Technology and other technical teams on data integration and architecture initiatives.

• Coordinate Data Stewards Forums, investigate data inconsistencies and implement corrective actions.

• Promote data integrity, consistent reporting definitions and adherence to data governance standards.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in data warehousing, SQL development, database administration or business intelligence.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, PostgreSQL and advanced SQL.

• Proven experience developing and maintaining ETL processes and data integration solutions.

• Strong Power BI development skills, including Power Query, DAX, data modelling and dashboard design.

• Experience with SSIS, stored procedures, data replication and SQL Server Agent.

• Working knowledge of AWS services, particularly RDS, EC2 and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

• Experience in database administration, SQL performance tuning, query optimisation, monitoring and scheduled job management.

• Advanced Excel skills, including data extraction, reconciliations and reporting automation.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience in financial services or the insurance industry.

• Exposure to financial, sales, policy and operational reporting.

• Experience with cloud-based database environments and data replication solutions.
