Job Description Summary
Symmetry is a business in build mode, evolving and growing. We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst with strong investment data expertise, governance discipline and stakeholder engagement skills to help enable trusted data across the business. The role will play a key part in delivering Symmetry’s enterprise data strategy by ensuring investment data is accurate, consistent, governed and fit for purpose across the enterprise data model.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality, availability and accessibility of investment data from source ingestion through to business consumption. They will embed business-aligned controls, validations and reconciliations into data processes, ensuring reporting, analytics and downstream systems are supported by trusted and certified data.
Working closely with business stakeholders and technical teams, this individual will drive improvements in data quality, governance, metadata management and automation, helping reduce operational risk and enabling better, faster business decisions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Data Management & Enterprise Data Model
Manage trusted investment data across the enterprise data model, ensuring core datasets are complete, accessible and fit for business use.
Maintain data lineage, metadata, classifications and transformation rules across key domains such as portfolios, funds, instruments, holdings, transactions and returns.
Data Ingestion, Transformation & Control Design
Build quality controls into ingestion and transformation processes so issues are identified before data reaches reporting or target systems.
Apply business rules, validation checks, tolerances and control evidence to promote raw data into certified, trusted datasets.
Automate recurring checks, reconciliations, extracts and reporting-support processes to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
Continuously improve control coverage, exception monitoring and reusable data assets as the enterprise model matures.
Data Quality, Governance & Exception Management
Define and monitor data-quality standards for critical data elements, with clear visibility of exceptions and remediation status.
Investigate data breaks across sources, transformations and outputs, driving root-cause resolution with the relevant owners.
Data Integration & Metadata Enablement
Support controlled integration of PAS, administrator, third-party, automated and manual sources into the common enterprise data foundation.
Ensure certified data and metadata are available to target systems, reporting portals, dashboards, extracts and automation assets.
Regulatory, Compliance, Fund & Business Reporting Data
Ensure data used in regulatory, compliance, fund, client, investment and management reporting is accurate, traceable and controlled.
Oversee classifications, reference data, manager-sourced inputs and recurring validations required for critical reporting cycles.
Stakeholder Delivery, Data Literacy & Advisory
Act as a senior SME for investment-data quality, translating business needs into data rules, controls, extracts, dashboards and reporting outputs.
Improve transparency and data literacy through data dictionaries, SOPs, practical guidance and clear explanation of data flows.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications and Experience required
5+ years’ experience in data analysis, reporting, analytics in an investment operations environment.
Proven experience owning critical recurring reporting deliverables where accuracy, timelines, and controls are essential.
Strong SQL capability and experience working with enterprise reporting platforms, data warehouses, or investment data systems.
Advanced capability in modern business-intelligence tools, including the ability to design clear, reliable dashboards and self-service reporting outputs.
Experience working with system-to-system data connectivity, structured data feeds, or integration-led reporting processes.
Strong understanding of investment data, including instruments, portfolios, funds, classifications, returns, holdings and reference data.
Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to manage complexity, prioritise independently, and deliver under deadline pressure without compromising quality.
