The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for analysing complex business processes and translating them into comprehensive, well-defined and traceable functional requirements. These requirements inform the design, development, testing and qualification of solutions implemented within existing operational environments, often involving integrated systems. The role includes business process modelling, defining business rules, analysing data and message flows, and working with XML-based messaging interfaces.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead requirements elicitation through stakeholder workshops, interviews and collaborative working sessions.
Analyse complex business processes, systems, data flows and business rules, providing functional input into solution design.
Manage the end-to-end requirements lifecycle, including analysis, documentation, refinement, validation and traceability, in accordance with Enterprise Architect and Interfront standards.
Evaluate the impact of proposed requirement changes on existing business processes and systems, providing input for effort estimation and costing.
Lead the verification and validation of developed solutions against approved functional requirements, identifying discrepancies and driving their resolution.
Ensure business requirements are consistently represented throughout all SDLC phases, providing functional guidance to development and QA teams.
Contribute to project management and quality assurance activities where required, working closely with Project Management and QA teams.
Manage stakeholder expectations regarding scope, priorities, constraints and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Mentor and guide junior and intermediate Business Analysts, ensuring high standards of requirements documentation, traceability and stakeholder engagement.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Mandatory Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Informatics, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
Minimum of 9 years' demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst, specialising in functional analysis, solution design and qualification of large-scale business solutions.
Proven experience working in transaction-based, message-intensive systems environments.
At least 3 years' experience operating in a Senior Business Analyst capacity.
Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the Business Analyst's role throughout the development process, including the transition of solutions into operational environments.
Demonstrated experience in business process modelling using BPMN and UML standards.
Knowledge of software testing and Quality Assurance (QA) principles and practices.
Ability to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision and contribute productively from the outset.
Advantageous Requirements
Diploma or certification in Business Analysis.
Demonstrated experience using Sparx Enterprise Architect.
Practical knowledge or experience in Function Point Measurement.
Experience working within logistics and/or tax-related environments.
