Our reputable QSR / Retail client is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join their Finance team based at their Head Office in Newlands East, Durban .
Purpose of the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full bookkeeping function , including the preparation, analysis and reporting of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, fixed assets, accounts payable and receivable, inventory, budgeting, statutory compliance, and audit preparation.
We are looking for a hands-on finance professional with strong attention to detail who is comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment and liaising with stakeholders across the business.
Minimum Requirements – Non-Negotiable
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years' proven experience in the full bookkeeping function, including the preparation, analysis and reporting of monthly management accounts.
- Previous experience within the FMCG, Fast Food/QSR or Retail sector.
- Experience working on Sage 50, Sage 200 or a similar accounting system.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
- Hands-on approach to finance and bookkeeping functions.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of accuracy.
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally across all levels of an organization.
- Strong organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the full bookkeeping and accounting function.
- Prepare, analyze, and report on monthly management accounts .
- Collate, prepare, and interpret financial reports.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Assist with inventory valuation and verification of stock count sheets.
- Ensure compliance with tax requirements and relevant statutory regulations.
- Assist with the audit process and ensure financial statements are completed accurately and timeously.
- Manage budgets and conduct variance analysis.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls and finance SOPs.
- Analyze financial information and identify discrepancies, trends and areas requiring attention.
- Liaise closely with Operations and other departments regarding finance-related matters.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effectively manage deadlines and competing priorities.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Present and communicate financial information effectively in both written and verbal formats.
