Job Title: SENIOR BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTANT Start Date: 2026-07-14 - 2026-08-13 Vacancy Type: Permanent CPT001448 Sectors: Finance Location: Western Cape , Swellendam Salary: (Market related, Negotiable) Brief: accountant|accounting|bookkeeper|cima|finance|financial accountant|management accounting|saica|saipa|senior bookkeeper SENIOR BOOKKEEPER Swellendam An internationally recognised agricultural business, specialising in the production, packing and export of premium citrus and table grapes, has an opportunity for a Bookkeeper to join its regional finance team based in Swellendam. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced finance professional who enjoys both bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities, while developing towards taking ownership of monthly management accounts. The successful candidate will work closely with regional finance management and the Group Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and efficient administrative processes. Detail: RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform the bookkeeping function, including processing and reconciliations Prepare accurate monthly financial information up to trial balance Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts Maintain inventory, fixed asset and capital expenditure records Support the annual audit process and statutory compliance requirements Ensure sound internal controls and adherence to company policies and procedures. Provide administrative support to regional finance management. Assist with the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes. Liaise with the Group Finance, HR, IT and Business Intelligence teams where required. Assist with payroll administration and related financial information when necessary. REQUIREMENTS: Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance. Minimum 5 years' relevant bookkeeping and accounting experience. Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Ability to prepare financial information up to trial balance and contribute to management accounts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Experience within the agricultural sector will be advantageous. Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and collaborate within a team. Willingness to travel occasionally between business units.
