- Grade 12 / Matric with a relevant Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping
- 5+ years experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment
- Strong understanding of full-function bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Experience with stock/inventory accounting, reconciliations and manufacturing costing.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
- Good knowledge of VAT, PAYE and other statutory requirements.
- Experience with month-end and year-end financial processes.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and financial reporting.
- Experience working with an ERP/accounting system; experience with manufacturing or inventory systems would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of inventory, WIP, raw materials, finished goods and cost-of-sales accounting.
- Experience preparing management reports, reconciliations and financial schedules.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate variances and discrepancies.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet strict month-end deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the full bookkeeping function.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with suppliers, customers, auditors and internal departments.
- Strong integrity and a high level of accountability.
DUTIES
- Manage the full bookkeeping function and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and process monthly journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting and close-off procedures.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are correctly allocated.
- Prepare VAT returns, PAYE and other statutory submissions, where applicable.
- Manage supplier invoices, payments and creditor reconciliations.
- Monitor customer accounts, collections and debtor ageing.
- Handle inventory and stock accounting, including stock reconciliations and adjustments.
- Assist with cost accounting, including raw materials, labour, overheads and manufacturing costs.
- Monitor and reconcile work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods.
- Assist with production costing and variance analysis.
- Reconcile inventory movements between the accounting and production/ERP systems.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and depreciation.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts and cash-flow management.
