Start free — we apply for you →Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer to drive the development and optimisation of enterprise-scale cloud data solutions. This permanent opportunity offers a hybrid working arrangement, with two days per week in the office in Faerie Glen, Pretoria, and three days working remotely.
Key Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL development, including performance tuning and stored procedures.
- Proven experience developing and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and SQL.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, Star Schema, Kimball, Data Vault, and SCD Type 2.
- Practical experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, dashboards, and Power BI Service administration.
- Experience with Python, Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, and data quality and governance practices.
- Exposure to enterprise data migrations, complex data integrations, and performance optimisation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, banking, or regulated environments will be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical deliverables, and provide guidance to junior team members.
