Start free — we apply for you →We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Security Engineer with strong hands-on experience in AWS security, cloud infrastructure and security controls within banking or other regulated environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing AWS environments, implementing cloud security controls, supporting compliance requirements and ensuring secure, resilient and highly available cloud infrastructure. Key Responsibilities AWS Security & Architecture
• Design and implement secure AWS cloud environments. • Implement security controls across AWS infrastructure, applications and data. • Apply IAM, least privilege, encryption and access management best practices. • Manage AWS security services including IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, AWS Config, WAF and Shield . Cloud Security & Compliance
• Implement security controls aligned with PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, POPIA and GDPR . • Identify and remediate security risks and vulnerabilities. • Support security audits, assessments and compliance activities. • Monitor and investigate security events and incidents. Infrastructure & Automation
• Implement secure Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK . • Support secure CI/CD and DevSecOps practices. • Work with AWS networking technologies including VPC, Security Groups, NACLs, VPN, Direct Connect and Transit Gateway . Collaboration
• Work closely with Cloud, DevOps, Infrastructure, Development and Security teams. • Provide technical guidance on AWS security best practices. Required Experience
• 5–8 years' professional IT experience, with 3–5+ years of strong hands-on AWS experience . • Strong experience in AWS Cloud Security . • Experience in banking, financial services or another regulated environment. • Strong knowledge of IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail and AWS Config . • Experience with AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies (SCPs) . • Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation . • Strong understanding of cloud networking and security. • Experience with Linux/Unix and scripting such as Bash, Python or PowerShell . • Understanding of PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, POPIA and/or GDPR . • Experience designing secure, highly available AWS environments. Advantageous:
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty.
- Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, Docker and SIEM tools such as Splunk, Datadog or ELK.
