We are looking for a Senior Application Developer open to working with technology that supports one of South Africa’s established financial services groups.

We are looking for a Senior Application Developer within financial services sector, with experience in C#, .NET 6, .NET Core, Blazor, HTML5, CSS and SQL Server. You should have solid experience developing web solutions, working with APIs and RESTful web services, developing unit tests and working across the full software development lifecycle. You should also have experience working in an agile environment using Scrum or KANBAN, together with the ability to take ownership of technical risks, solve complex development challenges and mentor junior developers, will be important for this role.

Duties

• Work as part of a project team, reporting to the IT Manager.

• Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet client standards and align with strategic enterprise architecture.

• Develop, test, implement and maintain software, web and multimedia applications.

• Define and manage non-functional requirements and ensure these requirements are met.

• Define, organise and accurately estimate development tasks.

• Work closely with the development team to ensure software design and implementation meet architectural and quality standards.

• Support Business Analysts and other project team members during functional requirements definition.

• Identify and take ownership of technical project risks and issues, including mitigation and resolution activities.

• Develop and integrate APIs and RESTful web services.

• Develop unit tests for code components.

• Identify opportunities to improve existing applications, processes and business efficiencies.

• Mentor and train junior members of the development team.

• Act as a focal point of expertise on key technologies and development skills.

• Undertake additional duties as directed by the line manager that are appropriate to the role.

Job Experience & Skills Required

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant technical degree, diploma or certification

Experience

• 8+ years' experience in software/application development.

• Proven experience across the full software development lifecycle.

• Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET 6 and .NET Core.

• Strong experience with Blazor, HTML5, CSS and SQL Server.

• Experience developing web-based solutions.

• Experience developing and consuming APIs and RESTful web services.

• Experience with unit testing and developing quality, maintainable code.

• Experience working within an Agile environment, particularly Scrum or KANBAN.

• Experience working as part of a development/project team.

• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior developers.

• Experience with DevOps automation would be advantageous.

• Previous experience within the insurance industry would be advantageous.
