- Join Old Mutual's Retail Mass Market Product and Pricing team and help shape the future of protection solutions in South Africa. You will oversee and drive product development, pricing, experience analysis and key strategic initiatives, helping deliver solutions that create meaningful customer value and support sustainable business growth.
- This role is ideal for a commercially-minded actuary who enjoys solving complex problems, working across multiple stakeholders and influencing business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and enhancement of protection products.
- Perform pricing reviews, recommend and implement product and pricing changes.
- Conduct experience investigations and provide actionable insights.
- Monitor product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support strategic projects and business priorities across the Protection Product team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Customer Proposition, Finance, Correspondence, Legal, IT and Servicing.
- Assist with the implementation, testing and governance of product and pricing changes.
- Lead, manage and develop team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified or nearly qualified actuary.
- 6+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance or protection products.
- Experience in product development, pricing and/or experience investigations.
- Good understanding of life insurance products and profitability drivers.
- IFRS 17 knowledge will be advantageous.
- Please note: the appointment may be made at a lower role size depending on the successful candidates' experience and exam progress.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with Prophet or similar actuarial modelling tools.
- SQL or Python experience will be advantageous.
