Introduction

ABOUT SATURC

SATURC is a newly established construction materials business, built on the acquisition of nine operating sites — previously part of a JSE-listed group.

We are entering the market at scale from day one whilst building our commercial and operational capability from the ground up.

As we continue to build and strengthen our finance function, we are looking for a Senior Accountant who thrives in a hands-on environment and takes genuine ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. You will own key accounting processes across month-end reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance support, fixed assets and audit preparation. This role requires someone who combines strong technical accounting capability with a practical, solutions-driven mindset and the ability to work independently in a growing business.

ABOUT YOU

  • You take ownership of your work. Reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • You have strong technical accounting skills and enjoy digging into the detail to ensure financial records are complete, accurate and compliant.
  • You are process minded. When you identify inefficiencies or control gaps, you actively seek better ways of doing things.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, auditors, SARS, and external stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable leveraging technology and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting accuracy, automate routine tasks, and streamline finance processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and payroll entries.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Support budget versus actual analysis with meaningful commentary.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.

Fixed Assets & Cost Accounting

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate accounting for additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Assist with capital expenditure tracking and reporting.
  • Support cost accounting processes, including overhead allocations and cost centre reporting.

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and support VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions.
  • Assist with SARS correspondence and audit queries.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
  • Support maintenance of tax records and supporting documentation.

Audit & Year-End

  • Prepare audit working papers and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in the annual audit process and respond to auditor requests.
  • Ensure reconciliations and supporting documentation are audit-ready throughout the year.
  • Support preparation of annual financial statements.

Accounts Payable, Receivable & Payroll Support

  • Review creditor and debtor reconciliations.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and assist with resolving discrepancies.
  • Support payroll accounting and reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and supported.

Controls & Process Improvement

  • Maintain strong financial controls and governance standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting, and data quality.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of finance processes across multiple sites.

Desired Experience & Qualification

WHAT YOU NEED

  • BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Completed SAIPA articles or SAICA articles.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in an accounting role, preferably within construction, manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site operations.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and reconciliations.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Sage AccPac experience advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting audits and tax compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Package & Remuneration

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive market-related salary and benefits.
  • Exposure to a dynamic and growing industrial business.
  • Opportunity to broaden your technical accounting and commercial finance skills.
  • Hands-on involvement in building systems, processes, and reporting structures.
  • Multi-site operational exposure across quarrying and ready-mix construction materials.
