Financial / Shareholder Returns
• Ensure financial soundness of all credit applications. Develop financial model for the assessment of financial sustainability of applicants' s businesses • Participate in due diligence teams ensuring that businesses are viable and sustainable.
Internal / Operational Processes
• Efficient management of allocated applications for funding, liaising with applicants, conducting basic assessments, resolving queries from applicants and conducting due diligence with other team members. • Perform due diligence on applications funding • Evaluate applications including financial, technical, or marketing disciplines through due diligence investigations. • Designing and negotiating the financial, EHS, legal and other relationships between the clients and IDC for the specific deal where applicable • Deal Optimization - Ensure that the deal is aligned with the strategic objectives of the department as specified by the funder and will contribute to meeting industry development goals. • Conduct compliance assessments as required. Initiate collation of all Conditions Precedent prior to handover to Post Investment team. • Review requests for funding, conduct the required assessments and prepare drafting of submission reports for review in preparation of submission to the approval panel. • Ensure submissions are finalized and submit proposals to Approval or Investment Panel/Committee ensuring accurate client data management. Ensure signed reports are submitted to Admin for Investment Panel preparation and filing. • Attend to and resolve all queries. Follow required process when handing over approved Business Partner to Post Investment Team • Lead due diligence teams as appointed to, ensuring interest of IDC is maintained, and recommendation is ready for consideration.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS Formal qualifications
- CA SA or BCom Accounting with post graduate degree e.g. BCompt, BEng / BSc or similar qualification
- MBA/MBL will be an advantage
- Project Management Professional qualification PMP will be an advantage
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- 8 to 10 years' experience in a Financial Institute/ Development Financing environment role with exposure to due diligence in a financial / development/banking institution.
- Should have at least 5 years' experience in assessing the economic viability of businesses and/or projects
- Sound experience in a financial environment is essential
- Outstanding skills in respect of the analysis and interpretation of financial statements
- Sound knowledge of business and the diversity of risks that may affect businesses
- Very good understanding of different types of security
- Good working knowledge of Company and Contract legislation
- Understanding of Economic trends
- Project management experience.
- Extremely good writing and presentation skills, particularly to committees & boards
- Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while building effective relationships
- Extremely organized and persistent, with drive and determination to achieve goals
- Ability to transfer knowledge to team members

General
- Enhance IDC's reputation and build trust amongst the stakeholders.
- Build and maintain a network of relationships across the Corporation.
- Partner with the team in building and fulfilling the mandate of the department in line with the IDC's and department's specific policies, systems & procedures.
- Utilize own and expert knowledge, experience, multi-dimensional understanding and application of best practices in the fulfilment of the role.
- Assist with the preparation of accurate and timeous reporting for various stakeholders as requested
- To peer review the necessary reports for management and various committees and Boards.
- Ensure that the team is familiar with all the relevant terms and conditions of the contractual relationship between IDC and its business partner.
- Design and compile reports and checklists to ensure efficient and effective monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist the department in the development of annual business plans and formulation and implementation of strategies to execute the role of the department.
- To provide continuous technical guidance to fellow team members in all key areas of their responsibilities.
- To assist Line Manager with reporting to stakeholders and other adhoc functions as and when requested and proactively.
- Provide input to strategic matters relating to the department.

Job Requirements
Customer Focus & Stakeholder Management
• Maintain meaningful relationships with enquirers, applicants and portfolio clients in conjunction with different support functions in the IDC. Ensure the provision of client service excellence and optimize service delivery in a manner that meets the client's needs; • Efficient management of allocated applications for funding, liaising with applicants, conducting basic assessments, resolving queries from applicants and conducting due diligences with other team members. • To effectively interact with the required departments to fulfil the process requirements related to any specific business transaction. • Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence. • Prepare communication to inform Business Partner if application is not approved due to outstanding documentation or as a result of non-approval by the panel and update SAP. • Liaise, communicate and promote the department externally. Identify strategic data collected for each Business Partner and ensure this is obtained.
