Security Manager - Internal Security & Risk Operations

Introduction

A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Security Manager to take full operational responsibility for its internal security function across multiple sites.

This is an operational leadership role requiring a proven security professional who can independently manage complex, multi-site security operations, investigations, risk exposure, compliance requirements, and 24/7 workforce deployment within a high-trust corporate environment.

The successful candidate will be accountable for safeguarding people, assets, infrastructure, sensitive information, and operational continuity across the organisation.

Role Overview

This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of internal security operations, including:

• Multi-site security command and operational oversight

• 24/7 security workforce deployment and shift governance

• Internal investigations (theft, fraud, misconduct, breaches, insider threats)

• Security risk management and vulnerability assessment

• Access control governance and protection of sensitive areas

• Incident management and operational escalation control

• Security technology oversight (CCTV, access control, alarms, monitoring systems)

• Fleet and operational response capability management

• K9 unit oversight and operational readiness

• Contractor and service provider management

• Compliance with applicable legislation and internal governance frameworks

• Executive reporting and risk communication

The role operates within a high-accountability environment where security performance directly supports business continuity and organisational integrity.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Critical Requirement

This role is intended for an experienced security professional who can operate independently from day one.

Candidates must have proven ability to

• Lead security operations without close supervision

• Manage multi-site environments

• Conduct and oversee formal investigations

• Enforce compliance and governance requirements

• Manage security teams in a 24/7 operational setting

• Experience managing contractors, vendors, or outsourced security services

• Respond effectively to critical incidents and operational disruptions

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Relevant qualification in Security Management, Risk Management, Policing, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Safety Management, or related field

• PSIRA Grade A registration

• Valid driver’s licence

• First Aid Level 2 (or higher)

• Clear criminal record

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years’ security industry experience

• Minimum 3 years in a security management or operational leadership role

• Proven experience managing multi-site security operations

• Demonstrated experience in investigations, risk management, and compliance enforcement

• Experience leading teams in 24/7 operational environments

• Exposure to fleet management, K9 operations, and security technology systems is advantageous
