The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Lead and provide an integrated view of the management information landscape for the GSMD.
- Manage the GSMD's information assets effectively, supporting operational efficiency, compliance and strategic decision-making.
- Deliver high-quality and relevant work using statistical models and data mining techniques, with task activities including, but not limited to:
- defining the data required to support informed decision-making in the GSMD;
- translating the GSMD strategy into data sources and reports for the regular tracking of GSMD results;
- ensuring that the systems and data collection instruments are in place, fully utilised and continuously improved;
- assisting with the installation, operation and maintenance of new technologies, providing database design and management services to the GSMD and designing and administering surveys;
- ensuring that data collected by the various instruments is accurate and consistent;
- coordinating the input of data to match output requirements across the GSMD;
- performing data analytics work, using a range of statistical models and techniques, such as correlation, regression or time-series analysis, to convert the data collected by the instruments into useful, understandable, appropriate, differentiated and necessary management information; and
- presenting conclusions gained from analysing data in appropriate formats.
- Lead and participate in stakeholder engagements, both internal and external, displaying the ability to solicit information as well as deliver a coherent and convincing message.
- Proactively stay abreast of developments in the internal and external environment and broaden knowledge of functional area to ensure alignment with best practice and industry standards.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and skills transfer in to ensure efficient data analysis and reporting for the GSMD.
- Lead business data-related projects as project owner and participate in business projects related to business data collection and correlation.
- Define own deliverables with guidance from the manager and prioritise the delivery of agreed outputs.
Qualifications
Job requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must have
- a Bachelors' degree NQF level 7 in either statistics, mathematics or computer science, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification in a related field;
- a relevant data management certification, such as Certified Data Management Professional, will be an advantage;
- five to eight years' experience in managing information systems; and
- experience in a security management environment will be an advantage.
