Section Manager: Reman

Duties & Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE Responsible for driving the profitability and growth of Hitachi's remanufacturing business through effective operational management, customer support, quality assurance, and continuous process improvement. The role oversees all remanufacturing activities, ensuring production targets, quality standards, supplier performance, and customer expectations are met while maintaining compliance with company policies, industry standards, and health and safety requirements.

Finance, Risk and Compliance •Contribute to and manage the approved budget for operations, capex and labour effectively. •Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of organisational standards, policies and procedures within span of control and monitor implementation to ensure compliance. •Manage the Company’s risk exposure through identification, implementation and maintenance of risk control measures to minimise liability. •Assess, review and authorise financial transactions and data integrity and accuracy before submitting for sign off and processing.

Remanufacturing Operations •Manage and oversee the remanufacturing process, including component testing, quality sign-off, core return management, production planning, and workflow efficiency. •Monitor labour efficiency, production performance, and achievement of delivery deadlines. •Evaluate special tooling requirements and coordinate supplier performance and quality standards. •Investigate warranty claims and recurring component failures, implementing corrective actions where necessary. •Develop, maintain, and update remanufacturing procedures and documentation. •Ensure remanufactured components meet required quality standards and align with Hitachi best practices. •Produce operational reports and performance analyses for management review. •Act as relief for the Assistant Manager: Reman and Group Leader: Reman when required.

Planning and Performance Management •Oversee forecasting, production planning, stock requirements, and contractual data management. •Conduct regular planning and production review meetings. •Monitor supplier and subcontractor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives. •Provide feedback to senior management regarding departmental objectives, business performance, and strategic goals.

Customer Support and Aftermarket Management •Manage technical, operational, and mechanical support related to remanufactured products. •Promote the use and benefits of Hitachi remanufactured components. •Manage customer complaints and ensure effective resolution. •Support internal and external customers with technical and operational requirements. •Implement and manage product improvement programs and aftermarket activities.

Quality, Compliance, and Safety •Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and conduct quality audits. •Maintain Health and Safety as a critical operational priority. •Ensure accurate and timely reporting to senior management. •Foster a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment for employees.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications: •Grade 12. •Recognized trade certificate (Diesel Mechanic/HEM/Millwright) is essential. •Diploma/Degree: Engineering, Operations & Projects Management qualification (advantageous). •Management Diploma or Higher (preferable). •Good knowledge of the different business functions. •Good mathematical skills to help manage the pricing, and estimates. •Finance/contracts/procurement/projects and vendor management. •Knowledge of Hitachi Equipment and Parts (essential).

Experience: •Minimum: 3-5 years’ OEM experience in a Management role within a Mining Equipment and/or Mining Industry environment. •Minimum: 7 years’ OEM experience in an Operational role within a Mining Equipment and/or Mining Industry environment. •Proven track record of negotiations contractual/service level agreement knowledge and implementation. •Broad understanding of operational and contractual requirements. •Stay abreast with all statutory regulations and legislation within the mining & construction industry. •Finance/contracts/procurement and vendor management. •MS Office (Intermediate to advance level.
