Section Engineer

Introduction

My client in the mining sector is seeking an experienced Section Engineer: TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery) to manage engineering and maintenance activities within an open-cast mining environment

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations, policies and procedures.

• Manage TMM maintenance and equipment reliability.

• Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget.

• Implement and monitor Life Cycle Costing (LCC).

• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on repetitive breakdowns and premature failures.

• Ensure workshops are adequately equipped and maintained to required engineering standards.

• Manage engineering staff, labour structures, contractors and suppliers.

• Manage disciplinary, grievance and conflict matters.

• Provide strong leadership and technical guidance to the engineering team.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• National Senior Certificate (Matric).

• Engineering Degree / Diploma.

• GCC Compliance Ticket – Compulsory.

• Valid Driver’s Licence.

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant supervisory experience in an open-cast mining environment .

• Proven experience with Heavy Earth Moving Equipment / TMM .

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Strong leadership and people-management skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Well organised and systems-oriented.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

• Strong understanding of engineering maintenance and equipment reliability.
