Sculler – Kitchen Steward 
 Pepperclub Hotel | Cape Town 
 The Sculler at Pepperclub Hotel plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation within the kitchen. This behind-the-scenes position ensures that chefs and service teams can operate efficiently in a spotless, safe, and well-prepared environment.  Main Duties & Responsibilities 
 
 • 
 Cleaning & Sanitising: Wash and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils according to hygiene standards. 

 • 
 Work Area Maintenance: Keep scullery areas, sinks, floors, and equipment clean, dry, and hazard-free at all times. 

 • 
 Support Kitchen Operations: Assist chefs and cooks by ensuring a steady supply of clean tools and utensils during service. 

 • 
 Waste Management: Properly separate and dispose of waste, recyclables, and food scraps in line with hotel procedures. 

 • 
 Stock & Equipment Care: Handle cleaning chemicals and machinery responsibly, ensuring correct usage and storage. 

 • 
 Restocking: Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and assist with restocking crockery and utensils where needed. 

 • 
 Safety Compliance: Follow all hygiene, health, and safety protocols, including PPE and temperature control guidelines. 

 • 
 Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with kitchen and service teams to support smooth operations during peak hours. 

 • 
 Operational Standards: Report damaged items, maintenance issues, or shortages immediately to supervisors. 

 • 
 Professional Conduct: Represent Pepperclub with reliability, respect, and commitment to excellence — even in back-of-house duties. 

 
 Requirements, Qualifications & Expectations 
 
 • 
 Previous experience as a sculler, kitchen steward, or cleaner in a hotel or restaurant environment preferred. 

 • 
 Knowledge of basic cleaning practices and food safety principles. 

 • 
 Physically fit and able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. 

 • 
 Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented. 

 • 
 Able to follow instructions and maintain consistency in tasks. 

 • 
 Strong teamwork and communication skills. 

 • 
 Flexible to work shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays. 

 • 
 Committed to upholding hygiene and operational excellence.
