- The successful incumbent will have sufficient relevant experience to perform the Scale Assistant work required and will be responsible for assisting a qualified artisan with performing specific semi-skilled activities supporting artisans during installation, repair works and maintenance, as well as assisting with any other day-to-day duties in a particular trade.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- N2 Certificate - Electrical or Mechanical.
- Related scale/ mechanical courses done will be advantageous.
- 2 Years' experience in a similar position in a chicken abattoir/ manufacturing plant.
- Thorough understanding of health & safety requirements.
- Basic awareness/ knowledge of Poultry Plant Machinery.
- Willingness to work overtime incl. shifts, weekends/ holidays when required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Will be the assistant to the artisan with the following
- Will be responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and sorting of the workshop.
- Overseeing all scales, product distribution and inkjet printing machinery throughout the processing plant and making sure that the scales are working properly.
- Maintaining and servicing of weighing and inkjet equipment in the Processing Plant.
- Assist with inspections as per job card issued.
- Assist with daily paperwork before end of shift check sheet, job cards.
- Maintenance of scale equipment on weekends as per shift roster.
- Assist with installation measures to reduce downtime.
- Assist with any other work or breakdown as instructed by shift coordinator or engineering manager.
- Any other duties as may be required by management.
