About PwC SATIC and the role

  • Join SATIC's Innovation & Capital Incentives ICI team as an R&D Tax Credits Analyst and help innovative UK businesses access valuable R&D tax incentives. This role is ideal for tax, finance, and analytical professionals who thrive in a collaborative, technology-enabled environment and are passionate about delivering value to clients. As part of PwC's wider UK ICI network, you will support the delivery of R&D tax claims, work alongside specialists across other incentive regimes, including Capital Allowances, and leverage digital and AI-enabled tools to drive efficient, high-quality client outcomes.

Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in taxation or relevant NQF 7 qualification.
  • Post-graduate qualification in taxation advantageous

Experience Required

  • 3-5 years taxation experience.
  • R&D/general tax credits/allowances experience desirable.
  • SAIT articles desirable.

Responsibilities Of Role

  • Manage and deliver a portfolio of R&D tax credit engagements across multiple clients and industries.
  • Prepare R&D tax credit claims and supporting documentation for submission to HMRC.
  • Analyse large financial datasets using Excel, Alteryx, and other digital tools to identify qualifying expenditure and calculate R&D tax incentives.
  • Interpret and transform complex financial and technical data into accurate, compliant R&D tax claims and meaningful insights for clients. Liaise with clients through emails and virtual meetings to gather information and provide project updates.
  • Collaborate with UK and South African teams to deliver high-quality client outcomes.
  • Support and coach junior team members, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and high-quality delivery across engagements.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear, proactive communication and ensuring all parties are kept informed of project progress, risks, and key milestones.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client value and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Desirable Skill Sets Include

  • Experience in a tax environment, with exposure to R&D tax incentives being advantageous.
  • Experience working with data transformation tools such as Alteryx.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and ways of working.
