Summary
- You'll lead and oversee the review, drafting, negotiation and assessment of complex financial services legal documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements; Schedules; Credit Support Annexes; Master Repurchase Agreements; Securities Lending Agreements; Futures Trading Agreements; Clearing Agreements; Prime Brokerage Agreements and related framework, collateral, security and ancillary documentation.
- You'll also provide senior subject matter expertise across derivatives, repo and related trading arrangements; lead complex negotiations, escalations and stakeholder-sensitive matters; oversee delivery across multiple projects, workstreams and live matters; manage senior client and internal stakeholder relationships; drive quality, consistency and risk-aligned delivery; lead training, coaching and capability development across the team; supervise managers and junior lawyers; shape scalable, technology-enabled legal delivery models; improve playbooks, templates, clause libraries and knowledge resources; support business development, client growth and strategic continuous improvement. You'll also play a key role in helping to build team capability, embed strong ways of working and support the continued growth of this specialist legal offering in South Africa.
Qualifications /Certifications Required
- LLB or equivalent legal qualification.
Experience Required
- 8–10 years' post-admission financial services experience.
- Admission as an attorney in South Africa or equivalent common law jurisdiction.
- Deep knowledge of markets and derivatives documentation.
- Strong regulatory, commercial and client-facing capability.
- Proven experience leading teams, complex matters and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong interest in legal innovation, delivery excellence and business growth.
