As part of our continued growth and commitment to Service Excellence , we are currently in search for a Sales Representative to join our team. The role will be bases in Centurion Branch in Gauteng but will have a National Footprint.
The Sales Representative will be responsible for driving Revenue Growth through the acquisition of New Customers , whilst maining our Existing Customers , and the optimisation of Transport and Warehousing opportunities across the business.
A key focus of the role will be the commercialisation of available Transport Capacity , including identifying and securing Backhaul opportunities, Selling available Load Space on return routes , and improving Fleet Utilisation to maximise profitability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within cold storage, warehousing, logistics, transport, and distribution sectors.
- Develop and execute prospecting plans to grow revenue and market share.
- Conduct customer visits, presentations, and commercial engagements.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Convert prospects into long-term customers.
- Identify opportunities to sell available load space on return trips and underutilised routes.
- Develop relationships with customers requiring freight movements along existing transport routes.
- Partner with Operations and Transport to identify available fleet capacity.
- Negotiate and secure profitable backhaul contracts.
- Improve vehicle utilisation and reduce empty kilometres.
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers.
- Conduct regular customer reviews and service discussions.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue from existing accounts.
- Resolve customer concerns and manage expectations.
- Support customer retention initiatives.
- Prepare quotations and commercial proposals.
- Negotiate rates, pricing structures, and commercial terms.
- Ensure pricing aligns with approved margins and business objectives.
- Support contract negotiation and renewals.
- Monitor market pricing and competitor activity.
- Assist with customer onboarding and implementation.
- Support service level agreement discussions.
- Maintain accurate customer records and contract documentation.
- Ensure contractual obligations are understood and managed.
- Escalate commercial risks where required.
- Maintain a structured sales pipeline.
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports.
- Track prospecting activity, opportunities, conversions, and revenue performance.
- Contribute to sales forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Provide management with accurate information regarding pipeline health and growth opportunities.
- Work closely with Operations to ensure customer solutions are operationally viable.
- Collaborate with Transport teams to optimise fleet utilisation and route profitability.
- Liaise with Finance regarding pricing and commercial approvals.
- Maintain professional relationships with external customers and business partners.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or NQF L4 Equivalent.
- Diploma/Degree in Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain and Logistics Management or in Commerce.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years work Experience in Logistics, Transport Sales, Freight Forwarding, Business Development or Warehousing and Supply Chain Sales.
- A valid Driver's license is a must (Code 8 or Code 10).
- The role will require extensive travelling Nationally.
