Sales Representative – Composites & Industrial Materials
Location: Cape Town
Salary: R 25 000 - R 35 750 plus commission
An established supplier in the composites and industrial materials sector is seeking an experienced Sales Representative to develop new business and manage existing customer relationships. This role suits a technically minded sales professional with a strong track record in business-to-business sales.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Identify and secure new business through prospecting, appointment setting and canvassing industrial areas.
Visit prospective and existing customers to understand their manufacturing processes and material requirements.
Prepare quotations and follow up on quotes and technical enquiries.
Manage the full sales cycle, coordinating with production, supply chain, technical and accounts teams to ensure efficient order processing.
Provide technical support and product selection guidance by phone and email.
Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and raw material pricing to inform sales strategies.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements
A minimum of 3–5 years’ sales experience, preferably within composites, plastics, chemicals or advanced manufacturing.
A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and managing complex B2B sales cycles.
Ability to interpret technical data sheets and understand composite manufacturing processes, including resin infusion, hand lay-up, filament winding and pultrusion.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance field sales with office administration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage technical audiences.
Own vehicle and willingness to travel frequently to client sites.
Package & Remuneration
Remuneration
Basic salary: R20 000 to 26,750 per month.
Cellphone allowance: R1,500 per month.
Travel allowance: R7,500 per month.
Commission: 17.5% of the margin on adhesive sales and 10% of the margin on selected traded products.
Benefits After Six Months
Medical aid: 50% employer contribution, paid as an allowance.
Provident fund: 5% employee contribution deducted from basic salary, with a matching 5% employer contribution.
