Introduction

As a Growth Executive, you will be responsible for identifying, acquiring, activating, and growing new merchants across Card Acquiring portfolio. You will own the full sales cycle from prospecting and presenting solutions to closing deals, ensuring successful installation, and driving ongoing merchant engagement.

Beyond acquiring merchants, you'll identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell additional  solutions, including cash management and lending products, creating long-term value for both your customers and the business.

Success in this role requires resilience, commercial acumen, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to consistently deliver against ambitious sales targets.

Because this is a field-based position, you must be comfortable travelling extensively within your allocated region and managing your territory independently.

Duties & Responsibilities

Win New Business

  • Identify, prospect and secure new merchant opportunities.
  • Build a strong sales pipeline through networking, referrals, cold calling and qualified leads.
  • Present their market-leading Card Acquiring solutions and tailor recommendations to customer needs.
  • Convert opportunities into signed agreements, successful installations and active trading merchants.
  • Deliver and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.

Grow and Develop Your Merchant Portfolio

  • Ensure merchants are successfully onboarded and actively transacting.
  • Drive merchant engagement to increase transaction volumes and long-term value.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing merchants through additional payment terminals and value-added solutions.
  • Cross-sell complementary products including cash management and lending solutions.

Own Your Territory

  • Manage your region like your own business.
  • Prioritise high-value market segments including retail, supermarkets, hardware, fuel, hospitality and general trade.
  • Build lasting customer relationships that drive loyalty and retention.
  • Stay ahead of competitor activity and market opportunities.

Use Data to Drive Performance

  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales pipeline management.
  • Monitor conversion rates, merchant activation, transaction growth and portfolio performance.
  • Provide regular market intelligence and customer feedback to support business strategy.

Continue to Grow

  • Stay informed on payment technology, fintech and merchant industry trends.
  • Participate in ongoing sales and product training.

Share best practices and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing sales culture.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in external sales, business development or merchant acquisition.
  • Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience in card acquiring, fintech, financial services or payments will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation and closing skills.
  • Experience managing a sales territory independently.

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
  • A qualification in Business, Commerce, Sales or Marketing would be advantageous.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Reliable personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within your allocated region.
