Sales Rep - Building & Construction Industry

Introduction

An established supplier within the building and construction industry is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Representative to join its sales team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, achieving sales targets and building strong, long-term relationships with customers.

We are looking for an energetic and proactive sales professional with a proven track record in the construction, building materials or related industry , who is comfortable working independently, travelling to customers and actively pursuing new business opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new business opportunities.

Cold call and prospect for potential customers and projects.

Follow up on sales leads, planned projects, tenders and awarded projects.

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.

Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets.

Negotiate effectively within approved company parameters.

Plan sales routes effectively to maximise customer coverage and sales opportunities.

Maintain regular contact with customers and identify changing requirements.

Provide customers with relevant product and technical support.

Prepare, follow up and provide feedback on quotations and new projects.

Maintain accurate customer and project information.

Provide management with regular updates on quotations, projects and sales opportunities.

Communicate sales demand and forecasts to Production to assist with stock availability and delivery planning.

Resolve customer queries or refer them to the appropriate department where necessary.

Maintain a high standard of customer service and develop long-term customer relationships.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12.

A sales-related certificate or diploma will be advantageous.

Minimum 5 years' sales experience , preferably within the building and construction industry.

Knowledge and experience in building materials, particularly aggregates such as sand and stone and/or roof tiles.

Good understanding of the construction industry and its various market segments.

Strong sales, negotiation and new-business-development skills.

Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook .

Fluent in both Afrikaans and English – candidates must be able to speak Afrikaans confidently.

Own reliable transport is essential.

Willing and able to travel extensively to customers.

Willing to work Saturdays as required.

Able to work effectively under pressure.

Advantageous Experience

Existing knowledge of the relevant sales geographical area.

Experience with sales administration systems such as BIBI, RITA and PIC.

Knowledge of pricing and distribution variables.

Understanding of truck sizes and load capacities.

Relevant product knowledge and conversion factors.

Understanding of production processes and plant operations.

Package & Remuneration

R30000 - R35000 depending on experience + Commisssion & Benefits
