Sales Manager / Sales Manager Trainee

Introduction

We are looking for a results-driven Sales Manager and strong Sales Manager Trainee to lead our retail sales operations. This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional who can develop and implement sales strategies, drive revenue growth, build customer relationships, and lead a multi-disciplinary team (sales, admin, fitters and workshop staff). Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously refine sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue and sales targets.

• Drive market share growth by attracting new customers and retaining existing ones.

• Set, monitor and manage clear performance goals and KPIs for the entire sales team.

• Analyse sales trends, product performance and market movements, and provide meaningful input to senior management.

• Lead the successful launch of new products and ensure the sales team has strong product knowledge.

• Grow and manage key programmes and specialised revenue streams (including commercial, 4x4, performance and dealer-related business).

• Actively coach, mentor and develop the sales team to improve performance and close more business.

• Plan and participate in customer activations, launches and relationship-building initiatives.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

• Lead, motivate and manage a multi-disciplinary team including sales, administration, fitters and workshop staff.

• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing performance management of staff.

• Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, counselling sessions and, when necessary, disciplinary processes.

• Plan and organise resources effectively, including work schedules, stock levels, equipment maintenance and safety compliance.

• Oversee daily administrative controls such as credit notes, goods received, invoicing, banking and reporting.

• Ensure full adherence to health, safety and operational standards in the store.

• Inspect products (tyres, rims and components) and drive vehicles when required to verify defects.

• Drive and report accurately on all KPIs and performance measures.

• Perform any additional reasonable duties as required by management.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric (Grade 12) is essential.

• Managerial, sales or leadership-related short courses will be a strong advantage.

• Minimum 5 years’ sales experience, of which at least 3 years must be in a retail environment (7+ years preferred).

• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing revenue.

• Solid exposure to product sales, ideally within the automotive, tyre or related retail industry.

• Strong understanding of sales principles, customer relationship management and basic retail administration.

• Experience in leading or supervising a team will be highly advantageous (especially for the full Sales Manager level).

• Valid driver’s licence is compulsory.

• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

• Excellent analytical, negotiation, coaching and communication skills.

• Strong leadership presence – confident, assertive yet tactful, and able to influence others.

• Self-motivated, highly target-driven, professional and collaborative.

• Ability to work overtime, travel locally when required, and adapt quickly to changing business needs.

• High levels of integrity, attention to detail and accountability.

Package & Remuneration

Up to R28 000 CTC per month
