WHOLESALER TO COMMERCIAL & RETAIL SECTOR
Multinational Group has superb career opening to manage their niche Wholesale Division which is currently very small and supported by the Corporate Offices Shared Services Division that provides HR, Finance, Operations etc. to allow this Division to concentrate on sales and support via Sub-Contractors. The Divisional Team consists of 2 Sales Representatives (1 at the Johannesburg Head Office and 1 in the Cape Town Branch), Internal Sales Staff, Sales Support Co-ordinator, Senior Administrator and a Service & Parts Administrator. This Division (Business Unit) sells a premium brand via an established National Dealer Network both into the retail and commercial markets. It is fully supported by the Corporate Head Office and notwithstanding the decentralised nature of the Divisional Manager role, the candidate can always seek support, guidance and advice from both the local and overseas Executives, especially in terms of the advanced technology of their premium products which have ‘added value’ features. All the Division’s products as well as spare parts and accessories are imported which is warehoused off site.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Divisional (Business Unit) Manager is accountable for the overall leadership, strategic direction, profitability, growth and governance. The candidate has to ensure that all sales, service, operational and support functions are effectively managed, either directly or through delegated leadership, in alignment with the strategic objectives and interests of the Group.
Key performance areas, inter alia, include
- Leads, oversees and supports the Division which will include managing, mentoring, guiding and leading the employees in the Division.
- Drive, develop and maintain meaningful business relationships with Customers, Dealers and Affiliates (in Namibia, Botswana & Mozambique) and follow through to ensure satisfactory customer service. Identify and drive new business opportunities across SA and the affiliate geographical areas.
- Liaise with Business Partners and Sub-Contractors to deliver cost effective and service orientated solutions.
- Develop and drive business plans, budgets, investment plans and targets in consultation with the Group’s requirements and guidelines.
- Optimise stock holdings with emphasis on stock turn, surplus inventory and planning accuracy. This will also include emphasis on identifying and managing ageing stock.
- Together with the candidate’s Superiors, assume full responsibility for accurate forecasting, product mix and profitability which will include periodical reports to the local South African Head Office and international Corporate Office.
- Represent the Division in engagements with Industrial Bodies, Business Associations, Regulators, Key Customers, Suppliers and other External Stakeholders.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements
- Relevant qualification which may be a B. Comm, Marketing Diploma, Business Degree, Management or similar as well as relevant senior management experience, ideally in a multinational with matrix reporting structure.
- Commercial and financial acumen, business development and customer focus, able to build high performing teams, well developed negotiation and interpersonal skills which is a critical requirement to be successful in this senior management position. Decisive and when required able to resolve complex business challenges.
- Sound computer literacy skills including advanced MS Office experience which is also required for both local and international reporting, self-confident, assertive, displays initiative and drive as well as being highly motivated, energetic and results driven.
