Our client, an established accounting practice, is looking for a SAIPA Trainee Accountant to join their team on a structured 3-year SAIPA training contract .
This opportunity is ideal for a final-year or recently graduated Accounting student who is looking to gain practical experience across financial accounting, taxation, auditing, financial reporting and client advisory , while working towards qualification as a Professional Accountant (SA) .
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process monthly accounting records, including cashbooks, bank reconciliations and customer/supplier transactions.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledgers.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS).
- Prepare and submit statutory returns via SARS eFiling, including VAT201 and EMP201.
- Assist with payroll processing and EMP501 reconciliations.
- Assist with ITR12 and ITR14 tax calculations and submissions.
- Assist with SARS queries and audits.
- Assist with independent reviews and audits.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate working paper files.
- Assist with internal control evaluations and documentation.
- Assist with asset verification and inventory counts where required.
- Assist with CIPC annual returns, company registrations and director changes.
- Provide professional support to clients regarding routine accounting and cloud-accounting queries.
- Maintain and update the SAIPA training logbook and competency requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BCom Accounting or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification , accredited/eligible for SAIPA training, or currently in the final semester.
- Must have completed or be completing the required subjects, including:
- Financial Accounting 3
- Taxation 3
- Auditing 3
- Corporate Law 2
- Management & Cost Accounting / Finance 3
- Strong academic record.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- Own reliable vehicle – essential due to client visits.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
Package & Remuneration
R11 000 - R24 000 CTC per month (subject to experience)
