SAIPA Trainee Accountant - Cape Town

Introduction

A reputable Accounting and Tax Practice based in Durbanville is seeking a driven SAIPA Trainee Accountant to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or aspiring Professional Accountant to gain valuable practical experience across accounting, taxation, payroll, and advisory services while completing their SAIPA training contract. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced professionals in a supportive learning environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform bookkeeping and accounting functions for various clients

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reconciliations

• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements

• Prepare VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax submissions

• Process journals and maintain accurate accounting records

• Assist with payroll processing and statutory submissions

• Liaise with SARS and clients where required

• Maintain organised working papers and supporting documentation

• Develop practical skills in accordance with SAIPA training requirements

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Completed or currently completing a SAIPA-recognised Accounting qualification

• Eligible to commence or continue SAIPA Articles

• Good understanding of accounting principles

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Eagerness to learn and develop professionally

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Experience with Sage, Xero, or CaseWare will be advantageous

• Valid driver's licence and own transport will be advantageous
