SAICA Trainee Accountant - Durban

Introduction

A well-established Chartered Accounting and Advisory Firm in Durban is looking to appoint a motivated SAICA Trainee Accountant to join its professional team. This opportunity is ideal for a graduate or aspiring Chartered Accountant seeking comprehensive exposure to audit, accounting, taxation, and advisory services while completing their SAICA training contract. The successful candidate will receive structured mentorship and practical experience within a supportive and professional environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with audit engagements from planning through to completion

• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with applicable reporting standards

• Perform accounting and bookkeeping functions for a diverse client portfolio

• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax returns

• Conduct reconciliations and analytical reviews

• Maintain accurate working papers and audit documentation

• Liaise professionally with clients to obtain supporting information

• Ensure compliance with SAICA training requirements and firm methodologies

• Collaborate effectively with managers and senior team members

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Completed or currently completing a SAICA-accredited Accounting degree

• Eligible to commence or continue SAICA Articles

• Strong academic record

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Valid driver's licence and own transport will be advantageous
