A leading organisation based in Cape Town is inviting ambitious and academically driven graduates to apply for its 2027 SAICA Graduate Programme. This structured programme offers practical workplace exposure, professional development and the opportunity to build the competencies required for a successful career in accounting and finance.

Position Description

The successful graduates will join a structured training programme designed to provide exposure across key financial disciplines. Working under the guidance of experienced finance professionals, graduates will gain practical experience in financial accounting, reporting, taxation, auditing, compliance and business operations.

This opportunity is ideal for graduates who are working towards becoming Chartered Accountants and who are eager to develop their technical knowledge in a professional environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
  • Assist with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Participate in internal and external audit processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Support tax calculations, submissions and compliance activities.
  • Analyse financial information and prepare supporting reports.
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashbook functions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls.
  • Assist with identifying financial risks and process improvements.
  • Work closely with different departments to understand business operations.
  • Complete assigned SAICA training competencies and development requirements.
  • Participate in formal training, mentoring and performance-review sessions.
  • Perform additional finance and accounting duties as required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • A completed or currently completing SAICA-accredited BCom Accounting degree is essential.
  • Applicants must have completed their qualification or be eligible to graduate before the programme commences in 2027.
  • BCom Accounting Sciences, BCom Chartered Accountancy or an equivalent SAICA-accredited qualification will be considered.
  • A strong academic record is required.
  • Applicants intending to pursue the Chartered Accountant CA(SA) designation will be preferred.
  • Eligibility to register for a SAICA training contract will be advantageous.

Experience and Competencies

  • Vacation work, internships or relevant part-time accounting experience will be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback.
  • Professional, ethical and responsible approach to work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must be based in Cape Town or willing to relocate.
