Job Title: Safety Officer Start Date: 2026-07-31 - 2026-08-30 Vacancy Type: Fixed Term Contract NCM003294 Sectors: Mining Location: North West , Brits Salary: (Market related, Negotiable) Brief: A reputable organisation within the engineering and manufacturing sector is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to champion health and safety initiatives across its operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated safety professional who is passionate about creating a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards. Detail: Key Responsibilities Implement, monitor, and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations. Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Develop and implement safe work procedures and safety programmes. Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee training. Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements. Ensure emergency preparedness, including evacuation procedures and emergency drills. Maintain accurate health and safety records, registers, and statutory documentation. Identify workplace hazards and implement effective risk mitigation measures. Liaise with management, employees, and regulatory authorities on health and safety matters. Prepare monthly health and safety reports and recommend continuous improvement initiatives. Support environmental and quality compliance where applicable. Minimum Requirements National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. SAMTRAC Certificate (essential). Registration with SACPCMP as a Candidate or Professional Construction Health and Safety Officer will be advantageous. 3–5 years' experience as a Safety Officer in a manufacturing, engineering, mining, construction, or industrial environment. Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and relevant regulations. Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits. Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 principles will be advantageous. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. Valid driver's licence. show more...
