Location: Somerset West, Western Cape Work Arrangement: Hybrid
A leading technology environment is looking for an experienced S2 Engineer Networks & Security to provide advanced technical support, manage complex escalations and contribute to the stability and security of client environments.
This role is suited to a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems and working across networking, security and incident response.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complex technical escalations from first-line support.
Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network and infrastructure issues.
Work with switching, routing, Wi-Fi and firewall environments.
Maintain and improve network reliability and performance.
Configure and troubleshoot firewalls and network security controls.
Assist with VPN, connectivity and network security issues.
Support security controls, patching and vulnerability remediation.
Work with endpoint security and identity/access controls.
Assist with security incident response, containment and remediation.
Monitor infrastructure and respond to meaningful alerts.
Participate in incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams and runbooks.
Follow change-control procedures for network and infrastructure changes.
Contribute to technical projects and implementations.
Work closely with S1 and S3 on escalations, projects and technical dependencies.
Identify recurring issues and implement preventative solutions.
Requirements
Relevant experience in network engineering, infrastructure and/or network security.
Strong understanding of switching and routing.
Experience with firewalls and network security.
Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure environments.
Understanding of VPNs, Wi-Fi and network connectivity.
Exposure to cybersecurity controls and vulnerability remediation.
Strong incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Good technical documentation practices.
Ability to work independently on complex technical issues.
Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Relevant technical certifications would be advantageous.
