A fast-growing, mission-driven technology business is looking for a talented Ruby Developer to join its engineering team in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a Full Stack Developer with strong Ruby on Rails and AWS experience to work on innovative web and mobile platforms used by thousands of users globally. If you're passionate about building scalable applications, improving deployment processes, and contributing to meaningful technology solutions, this role offers the chance to work in a collaborative environment where your input directly influences the product. Duties & Responsibilities
Requirements
- 4 to 6 years of professional software development experience
- Strong Ruby on Rails development experience
- Experience with Ruby libraries such as Devise, Omniauth, and RSpec
- Strong AWS experience including EC2, S3, Lambda, Ubuntu, Nginx, Redis, and Aurora PostgreSQL
- Experience building and maintaining scalable web applications
- Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React, or React Native
- Understanding of scalable application architecture and design principles
- Experience implementing automated testing and unit testing frameworks
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Advantageous Experience
- React Native development
- DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Cloud infrastructure management
- Interest in cycling, mobility, or InsurTech environments
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails applications
- Develop and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure and deployment systems
- Contribute to cross-platform mobile application development using React Native
- Enhance application performance, security, and scalability
- Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks and software defects
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to deliver new features
- Improve deployment workflows and operational processes
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
