- Every refurbished pump is delivered with a full quality data pack – from strip and assessment reports through to commissioning sign-off – compiled under a client-approved quality control plan with witnessed hold points.
- We are looking for a meticulous QA person who owns this documentation end to end: builds the packs, chases the evidence, controls revisions and gets them through client review the first time.
Employment type: Fixed-term contract approx. 12 months, extension possible based on programme demand Base location workshop: Industria North, Roodepoort - Gauteng; occasional client sites – Nation Wide visits for witness inspections Start date : As soon as possible Reporting to Engineering Lead Minimum requirements:
- National Diploma or equivalent in Quality Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years QA experience in rotating equipment, heavy engineering or petrochemical environments.
- Demonstrated experience compiling data packs / manufacturing record books for large industrial clients – state-owned enterprise experience Transnet, Eskom, Sasol a strong advantage.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Strong MS Office Word, Excel and PDF compilation skills; comfortable with client document portals.
- Own transport and valid driver's licence.
- Welding inspection background SAIW Inspector Level 1/2, CWI or equivalent.
- Exposure to pump testing standards and API 610 documentation requirements.
- Experience in NEC or similar contract environments where records support commercial positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Control Plans: develop and maintain QCPs and inspection & test plans ITPs per pump for client sign-off, including witness and hold points.
- Data pack compilation: compile complete refurbishment data packs per pump: strip and assessment reports, dimensional and clearance records, material and component certificates, shaft balancing reports 2960 rpm, machining and line-boring reports, casing pressure test certificates, performance test certificates flow, head, bearing temperature, vibration, laser alignment printouts and commissioning reports.
- Welding documentation: control WPS/PQR and welder qualification records for casing repair work, aligned to applicable codes API / ASME awareness.
- Non-conformance management: register, track and close out NCRs and defect registers; prepare responses to client comments and manage resubmissions to closure.
- Document control: revision control, transmittals, uploads to the client document platform, and review / squad-check comment tracking.
- Inspections: coordinate client witness inspections and client specialist visits; ensure evidence is captured at each hold point, not reconstructed afterwards.
- Safety file support: assist with compilation and upkeep of site safety files to client contractor management requirements OHS Act 85 of 1993.
- Calibration: maintain the calibration register for measuring and test equipment used in the workshop and on site.
