Our client in North West is looking for a Rock Engineer (Underground deep level gold mining) to join them Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum requirements
- 5 - 8 years underground gold mining experience
- Minimum 3 years as a Rock Engineer in deep-level gold mining operations
- BSc Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering
- Chamber of Mines Certificate in Rock Engineering (COMREC)
- Mine Managers' Certificate of Competency (advantageous)
- ECSA Registered (Advantageous)
- Blasting Certificate (Advantageous)
- SAMTRAC safety qualification
- Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation training
- Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) Knowledge, Minerals Act and Mining Regulations
- First Aid certification (Advantageous)
- Experience in geotechnical monitoring and rock mechanics investigations
- Experience in rock support design and implementation
- Experience managing safety critical projects
- Experience in ultra-deep South African gold mines
- Seismicity monitoring, analysis and systems
- Exposure to numerical modelling software
- MS Office, Datamine, Rocscience Software, MAP3D, Examine, CAD Software, MineRP, ArcGIS
- Possess extensive knowledge of:
- Rock Mechanics principles
- Geotechnical Engineering practices
- Mining methods and mine layouts
- Ground support systems
- Rock burst prevention strategies
- Mine design and planning principles
- Geology and structural geology
- Ventilation interactions affecting rock stability
