- Operate rock drill equipment according to production requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure efficient housekeeping of equipment according to departmental requirements.
- Perform elementary operational maintenance on the rock drill.
- Perform visual inspections on rock drill equipment and working area according to departmental procedure to minimise breakdowns and production losses by reporting abnormalities to procedure.
- Select and attach drill bits and drill rods as well as changing drill bits when needed.
- Start, stop and control drilling speed of machine and insertion of castings into holes.
- Assist with the charge-up process iinitiatives
- Assist in performing risk assessments general and mining
- Material handling
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Requirements
- Rock Drill Operator Certificate
- Grade 9,
- Grade 12 certificate will be advantageous
- 2 years' mining underground experience half of which must have been as a Rock Drill Operator.
- Rock Drilling assessment will be conducted for competency
- Clean Criminal Record
- Proof of residents not older than 3 months
- Valid Certificate of Fitness
