Job Description: Road Test Driver Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Employment Type: Full-time Purpose of the Role The Road Test Driver is responsible for safely test-driving vehicles to confirm they're roadworthy, mechanically sound, and ready to be handed over to drivers. This is a hands-on role that requires someone confident behind the wheel, observant, and comfortable driving a variety of vehicle types. Key Responsibilities • Conduct road tests on vehicles before they're allocated to drivers or released from the workshop • Check that the vehicle handles correctly — steering, braking, acceleration, gear changes, and general drivability • Listen and feel for unusual noises, vibrations, or handling issues and report them clearly • Complete a basic vehicle inspection checklist before and after each test drive (lights, tyres, mirrors, seatbelts, dashboard warnings, etc.) • Log test results and flag any vehicle that needs further attention before it can be signed off • Drive vehicles safely and responsibly at all times, following the rules of the road • Assist with moving vehicles between sites, workshops, and parking areas as needed • Work closely with the workshop/maintenance team to confirm reported faults have been resolved • Test drive new riders/drivers. Requirements • Valid driver's licence (Code B or higher), held for at least 3 years • Clean driving record with no major violations • Comfortable driving automatic vehicles • Strong attention to detail — able to notice when something isn't right with a vehicle • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently • Basic literacy — able to complete simple written checklists and reports Preferred • Background as a driving instructor or driving school professional — strongly preferred, as candidates from this background typically bring excellent car control, patience, and a sharp eye for vehicle condition • Prior experience with fleet vehicles, car rental, or dealership test drives • Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics (a plus, not essential) What We Offer • Competitive salary • Hands-on, varied role — different vehicles, different days • Opportunity to grow within the fleet operations team
