- Shoprite is seeking a detail-oriented Risk Engineering Officer to join our Group Insurance Department, specialising in fire prevention, detection, and suppression initiatives across facilities.
- In this role, you will play a key part in supporting risk engineering initiatives by coordinating assessments, managing critical risk data, and ensuring compliance across various asset protection and safety programmes.
- You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic FMCG and technical environment to help safeguard business operations.
What you'll do
- Coordinate and manage fire prevention, detection, and suppression projects across multiple facilities, ensuring timely execution and compliance.
- Conduct and oversee thermal imaging and sprinkler system assessments, identifying risks and recommending remediation actions.
- Maintain and update risk management registers and databases with accurate and comprehensive information.
- Prepare, verify, and process reports, invoices, and administrative documents related to risk engineering initiatives.
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, service providers, and risk engineering teams to ensure clear communication and coordination.
- Schedule work, track progress against service levels, and compile regular progress reports for management review.
- Support project proposal development, including defining scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Organise and coordinate meetings, manage correspondence, and handle inquiries professionally.
- Apply project administration and coordination skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to established procedures and standards.
What you bring
- Diploma in Project Management or related field.
- Experience in project administration or coordination, preferably in FMCG or technical environments.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and knowledgeable in Google Suite tools.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to operate independently and within a team, demonstrating self-motivation.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Understanding of risk engineering concepts related to fire prevention and safety.
- Capability to manage time effectively under demanding and fast-paced conditions.
- Professionalism in managing correspondence and project-related documentation.
